Overview

A curtain wall system is an outer covering of a building in which the outer walls are non-structural, but merely keep the weather condition out and the occupants in.

Curtain wall systems are typically designed with extruded aluminum members. The aluminum frame is usually filled in with glass, which provides an architecturally pleasing building, as well as benefits such as day lighting.

A curtain wall can be categorized as stick, unitized or semi-unitized system based on the commonly used erection techniques.
